Green Star SA Rating Tools
The Green Building Council SA developed the Green Star SA rating tools to provide an objective measurement for green buildings in South Africa and to recognise and reward environmental leadership in the property industry. Each Green Star SA rating tool reflects a different market sector and is applicable only to that sector.
The objectives of Green Star SA tools are to:
Establish a common language and standard of measurement for green buildings
Promote integrated, whole-building design
Raise awareness of the benefits of green building
Recognise environmental leadership
Reduce the environmental impact of development
LEED™ Building Rating Tool
Building Design + Construction
LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a green building certification program established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. To receive LEED certification, building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification.
Recognised and applicable globally, it is similar in principal to Green Star, however it differs in some specific ways. Please contact us for more information on how they compare and differ.
